Internet Cell Phones
by Dr. Kevin Nunley
Recently I wrote an article on how cell phones are getting
used on the Internet. Two million people will have these phones by next
year and some say as many as 23 million will be dialing the Internet
by 2003.
Amid all this explosive growth, nobody really knows
how web phones will be used. Your ideas are as good as the "experts."
Charles Scott wrote with an interesting angle: "What about this - a
consumer, Roger, is in the market for say a new sofa.
A dedicated key on his cell phone, when activated, broadcasts
to all points--I need a new sofa!" Immediately this call goes out to
the participating furniture stores along with Roger's phone number.
These stores have special equipment to receive and answer these calls.
Roger's phone can store the responding stores' addresses, email, and
web sites until he is ready to make a purchase.
