2. A Post Windows World. Microsoft's operating system
and applications that won the desktop and controls surfing on the Internet
is now being challenged on many fronts. Very stable and nimble operating
systems and applications are posed to take center usage in our lives and
careers. Linux in the server market and the Bea OS, with simpler Internet
appliances and wireless devices are technologies that we should begin
to learn to advance our careers.
3. Wireless. There will soon be more wireless devices
like Cell Phones, PDAs, two-way pagers, and PocketPCs connected to the
Internet than PCs. This will have massive implications for those with
careers in mobile professions and hi-tech. 1.5 billion wireless devices
by the year 2004 will mean that this is a technology that we all should
become familiar with right now. Persons with web businesses should look
to have a wireless version developed.
4. Telecommuting. Many companies will look to have
