Profile
on Cassandra Mack
It's an honor to present this Interview with one of my favorite writers Cassandra Mack. If you have on prior occasions had the opportunity to read Cass or C Mack, as I fondly call her at times, you would observe that she is a really brilliant writer on both personal relationship and business issues.
Many of us know of Cassandra Mack from Facebook or other online destinations. But now I delve a little deeper into what makes this insightful maven such a literary diva.
The Interview
Kamau: Hi Cassandra can you tell me the Name of your company and a little about what you do and why?
Cassandra: I am the founder and CEO of Strategies for Empowered Living Inc., a training and development company that offers workshops, keynotes, coaching programs and products designed to help people make life work and become more successful and productive in their personal and professional endeavors. I am a corporate trainer, life coach and author and publisher of 10 highly-successful books.
Kamau: Wow! Cassandra I knew you were a brilliant writer but your overall business bio sounds even more impressive.
Can you tell us a little bit about your background, like where you grew up and went to school?
Cassandra: I grew up in the NYC and went to school there as well. I have a master’s degree in social work with a concentration in clinical casework from The Hunter College School of Social Work.
My professional background is quite diverse. I’ve worked as a counselor in a mental health clinic, as a supervisor, a parent workshop facilitator, curriculum developer and grant writer, a life skills instructor in an adolescent unit of a foster care agency and a director in a community center overseeing a myriad of social, educational, therapeutic and recreational programs for children and teens.
Kamau: When did you decide you wanted to help people repair themselves and improve their relationships?
Cassandra: It was always part of what I did. No matter what job I held from working on the front-lines and doing street reach work with troubled teens to overseeing programs for youth and families on the management end, I always had a vested interest in helping people empower themselves to rise and thrive.
Kamau: At what point in your life did you decide you wanted to become an entrepreneur?
Cassandra: It’s kind of hard to pinpoint exactly when, because I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and no matter who I worked for I always found a way to bring my values, vision and personal mission to the work.
Kamau: Who were some of your role models that influenced you to go into business?
Cassandra: Some of the people I admire in business are Oprah, Wendy Williams, Tony Robbins, Suzy Orman and Jack Canfield.
Kamau: When did you decide that the Internet is a place that you wanted to do business?
Cassandra: When I noticed that more and more people were making real connections with great people online.
Kamau: What makes your business unique or different from your competitors?
Cassandra: I don’t know if I spend a lot of time focusing on my competitors. I simply focus on my goals and the business role models that I admire.
Kamau: Ok that is an interesting approach. On the other hand, my business is one where you are constantly evaluating the competition. But I think I understand that you primarily focus on your goals - Nice!
Was there a defining moment or turning point in your business career when you knew you were going to be successful on the Internet?
Cassandra: When I started making real connections with real people who wanted my products and services.
Kamau: How much of a challenge is it trying to help people respect the other gender and repair their personal relationships?
Cassandra: I think people are hungry for good information that is relevant and practical. I also know that in business you can't serve everybody. So there will be some who will be receptive to my message and others who won't.
Kamau: Actually Cassandra your writing is so logical, on point, and well thought out it's hard to believe people would reject it. Then again I'm a true fan of yours.
But of course you're right. You can't please everybody no matter how good you are.
