Mr. Fernando Hernandez Named AT&T Supplier Diversity Group Procurement Director

BEDMINSTER, N.J.- AT&T today announced that Fernando Hernandez, 39, has been named AT&T Supplier Diversity Group Procurement Director .

AT&T has had a long-standing commitment to use suppliers representing minority, women and service disabled veteran-owned businesses. In his new role, Hernandez will develop strategies designed to maximize AT&T's use of minority suppliers and contractors.

Since joining AT&T in 1990, Hernandez has worked with the minority and women business market segment, and business and constituency leaders. His responsibilities also included development of multicultural marketing programs for both AT&T's Business and Consumer divisions.

In 1992, Hernandez directed the launching of AT&T's first Hispanic, African American and Asian American marketing programs.

"Fernando Hernandez brings a wealth of experience in multicultural and global marketing that will serve him well in his new position," said Debra Bell, AT&T Chief Procurement Officer.

Hernandez is a graduate of St. Peter's College in New Jersey, where he majored in accounting. He also studied at the Pennsylvania-based Wharton School of Business, and is pursuing a graduate degree in information sciences at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.

A much sought-after speaker on multicultural issues, Hernandez, who is fluent in Spanish and English, is co-authoring a book on multicultural marketing in America. He was recognized recently by the American Marketing Association for his work in promoting awareness of multicultural diversity and its impact in the workplace.

Hernandez lives in New Jersey
