Mr. Fernando Hernandez Named AT&T Supplier Diversity
Group Procurement Director
BEDMINSTER,
N.J.- AT&T today announced that Fernando Hernandez, 39, has been named
AT&T Supplier Diversity Group Procurement Director .
AT&T
has had a long-standing commitment to use suppliers representing minority,
women and service disabled veteran-owned businesses. In his new role,
Hernandez will develop strategies designed to maximize AT&T's use
of minority suppliers and contractors.
Since
joining AT&T in 1990, Hernandez has worked with the minority and women
business market segment, and business and constituency leaders. His responsibilities
also included development of multicultural marketing programs for both
AT&T's Business and Consumer divisions.
In 1992,
Hernandez directed the launching of AT&T's first Hispanic, African
American and Asian American marketing programs.
"Fernando
Hernandez brings a wealth of experience in multicultural and global marketing
that will serve him well in his new position," said Debra Bell, AT&T
Chief Procurement Officer.
Hernandez
is a graduate of St. Peter's College in New Jersey, where he majored in
accounting. He also studied at the Pennsylvania-based Wharton School of
Business, and is pursuing a graduate degree in information sciences at
Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.
A much
sought-after speaker on multicultural issues, Hernandez, who is fluent
in Spanish and English, is co-authoring a book on multicultural marketing
in America. He was recognized recently by the American Marketing Association
for his work in promoting awareness of multicultural diversity and its
impact in the workplace.
