access. Therefore many Internet users will not be willing to make a backward
devolution to slow wireless speeds of only 19k. 19k is less than half
the speed of 56k modem speeds of which most Internet users are already
unhappy.
Furthermore, wireless is a mishmash of network standards
and protocols like GSM, TDMA, WAP, and CDMA. Concurrently it is a hodgepodge
of markup languages like CHTML, HDML, HTML, VoiceXML, WML, and XML. In
other words these technologies do not work together and they are competing
for wireless primacy. Compounding this is the different devices like cell
phones, PDAs, two way pagers, and pocketPCs. Not to mention different
operating systems and platforms making it very hard for developers to
transition web sites or intranets into new formats to accommodate wireless
